What is the chief characteristic of the tall office building? It is lofty. It must be tall. The force and power of altitude must be in it, the glory and pride of exaltation must be in it. It must be every inch a proud and soaring thing, rising in sheer exaltation that from bottom to top it is a unit without a single dissenting line.

To satisfy the sharp desire I had
Of tasting those fair apples, I resolv'd
Not to defer; hunger and thirst at once
Powerful persuaders, quicken'd at the scent
Of that alluring fruit, urged me so keen.

INFO

A big, bold, in-your-face kinda font. I wish I could credit the original designer, but I don’t have the information. I found the font in a Dover clipart book called Art Deco Initials. Evidently, the editor found several incomplete fonts from the era and, rather than publish them as partial type specimens, used what she had to create this book. The font has several characteristics that are similar to the logotype font for The New Yorker, hence the name.
