Sport is linked with the technical world because sport itself is a technique. The enormous contrast between the athletes of Greece and those of Rome is well known. For the Greeks, physical exercise was an ethic for developing freely and harmoniously the form and strength of the human body. For the Romans, it was a technique for increasing the legionnaire's efficiency. The Roman conception prevails today.

Consider Wittgenstein's paradigmatic question about defining "game." The problem is that there is no property common to all games, so that the most usual kinds of definition fail. Not every game has a ball, nor two competing teams; even, sometimes, there is no notion of "winning." In my view, the explanation is that a word like "game" points to a somewhat diffuse "system" of prototype frames, among which some frame-shifts are easy, but others involve more strain.

INFO

This is a font I made based on the unique jersey numbers worn by the Boston Red Sox. The letters are my own imagination. Use ALL CAPS and you get Serif characters. Use lowercase and you get sans-serif characters. Dennis Ortiz-Lopez created a proprietary fonts for several teams logos including the Bosox. Anyone want to give it a go at making a freeware/shareware version.
